As We Grow uses natural, biodegradable fabrics and yarns; mostly warm, water-resistant alpaca and wool, and soft and fine hand-harvested pima cotton and linen, all of which are supremely durable.

As We Grow products are made in factories with the best possible methods, facilities and staff policies, chosen by the owners personally to ensure that all parts of  the production are lean and environmental. Excess yarn is used in hand knitted scarves and hats. Producing like this tends to cost slightly more, but the benefits to both the people making the clothing and the environment are huge.

These are big and fits the higher end of the age range better. Please contact me for measurements.

Merino Wool Products:

Wool is very elastic. It is dirt and water resistant and has a temperature and warmth regulating effect. It keeps better warm than all other materials and regulates cutaneous respiration and the oxygen exchange. It can absorb up to 35% of its own weight of moisture without feeling wet. Besides, wool is aliphatic by nature.

Due to the wool’s characteristic of being dirt-repellent frequent washing is not necessary as wool regenerates itself by airing-out in air containing a lot of oxygen.

Wool absorbs moisture and will keep your child dry, protecting the health and well-being of the little ones. With it’s unique isolating qualities it naturally regulates the body temperature.

The wool fibre has a characteristic structure by its fine, gradual scales lying on top of each other. The outer scales can jam together when treated in the wrong way so that they will interlock firmly, which means that wool felts. Virgin wool is the wool fibre which one gains by shearing living sheep. Only the first processing can be called pure new(virgin) wool. Merino virgin wool comes from the merino sheep, is finely crimped and feels soft and cosy.

Care instructions for Merino Wool

Clothing from wool and/or wool/silk should be washed by hand with a wool detergent. Please do not soak, rub, wring or toss your underwear in water. It is important that the washing and the rinsing water have the same temperature that wool does not suffer a cold shock which causes felting. After washing wrap the underwear in a towel, wring and pull it in form and let it dry flat.

Pay attention to care labels on each product. Here are explanation of the most common symbols which can be found on our products

sparked by one woollen sweater the Icelandic design company and clothing brand As We Grow has built a growing design business with an ambitious, sustainable approach to the use and life cycle of the products, resulting in less waste. In just five years the company has made it to the highest podium of the Icelandic Design Award 2016. They're a leader in 'slow fashion'!

The As We Grow look leans to tradition. The pieces carry references to the Icelandic rural past, a nostalgic retro flair from the time when children’s clothes were still made at home by hand. More than merely a style choice, simplicity and timelessness add to the life cycle of the product. From the beginning, we have believed in designing products that offer real value to their users. This means, offering garments that last over generations, as well as always being mindful of the environment and communities. Each As We Grow piece is fair trade for the benefit of all people.

As We Grow uses natural, biodegradable fabrics and yarns; mostly warm, water-resistant alpaca and wool, and soft and fine hand-harvested pima cotton and linen, all of which are supremely durable.

As We Grow products are made responsible in factories with the best possible methods, facilities and staff policies, chosen by the owners personally to ensure that all parts of  the production are lean and environmental.
